Student Check-Out Policies

All classes will schedule a 30 minute library orientation. During this meeting, each student will receive a media contract to take home. Once the orientation is complete and the contract is signed, students may begin checking out books. A copy of the contract will be kept in the student’s library folder.

Kindergarten and 1st grade: Each class on these grade levels will have a weekly 15 minute check-out visit scheduled by the teacher on share point. The teacher will accompany his/her class for these visits. These students will be allowed to check out one (1) book at a time. If the student has an overdue book, he/she will not be able to check out again until the book is returned or paid for.

2nd- 4th grade: Students may visit the library in groups of four or fewer at the discretion of the classroom teacher on library days (Monday, Wednesday or Friday). Each student will be allowed to check out two (2) books for a period of two (2) weeks. If the student has an overdue book, he/she will not be able to check out until the book is returned or paid for.

5th grade: Students may visit the library in groups of four or fewer at the discretion of the classroom teacher on library days (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Each student may check out three (3) books for a period of two (2) weeks. If a student has an overdue book, he/she will not be able to check out until the book is returned or paid for.

PreK:  I will work with the classroom teachers to schedule semi-regular story-time for PreK classes.

Class overdue notices will be sent electronically to the teachers’ e-mail on a weekly basis. Individual overdue notices will be sent home periodically throughout the year.
